Software Status Modified topic

Hi everyone,
Recently a software company released a new root tool named Kingroot 4.0, says can root 5.0+ device.
My phone on hboot screen shows : software status official, locked, s-on.
Then I tried to root my HTC M8 with this tool. But failed.
Then when I check the hboot screen, software status now is modified, but everything else stays the same.

Under this condition, could I receive and install the future OTA on my M8?

If I couldn't, what should I do?
