How do I use the "Apply update from ADB" option on my Moto G 1st edition (XT1033; India)? Is there a good tutorial available?

I have a MotoG that does not complete the boot process but it will go to the boot menu and also to the recovery menu. Inside the recovery menu I see the "Apply update from ADB" option. I also have a "Apply update from sdcard" option but this phone does not take any sdcard.

fastboot commands work when I connect it via USB to my Laptop. But I've had no success running adb commands so far. I successfuly unlocked the phone just now via fastboot using the unlock key I got from the Motorola site.

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to use flashfire on a pingpong rooted S6 to update to the new OTA without tripping Knox? Or do I have to ODIN back and do it the old fashioned way?

Thanks.

My Nexus 7 (2013) Wifi+3G tablet has had a notification for me to update to 5.0.2 from 4.4.3 for several months now, and I've tried to upgrade it for quite a while....but it won't allow me to do it. It does have root, using TWRP as my recovery, but that's all I've done to it.

In fact, when it does the reboot, it comes up with this:

Does anyone know why it does this? How I can fix this, short of manually sideloading 5.0.2?

Has all Gionee E7 buyers know, we did get 2 screen protectors with the phone.
Gionee claims that the screen is Corning Gorilla Glass III, so... is it worth using the screen protectors?

Who's using it, and who's not?

Best Regards

Hi guys,

I got a problem with OpenVPN on a Galaxy S5 with fw 4.4.2 stock.

Whenever i start OpenVPN it says connected but i cannot open anything that requires internet (play store, apps, and so on)

Did anyone else face this issue and got it solved?

I am using the same config on Sony Z3 and it works flawlessly

I just started a new data period and ATT says I already have used 1.15GB of data. According to my usage manager on my Samsung Galaxy S5, I have used 15.78MB. I have used the WiFi though.
What is happening and how can I fix it?

Is it possible to use the samsung galaxy s4 from verizon with boostmobile. Love the phone but cannot get it to work with my boost sim card. Please help. Thanks.

Used this rom forever until recently flashing some new Lollipop roms to play around with. Ended up not really liking the new roms, and wanted to restore back to Mahdi. Unfortunately, I was a complete idiot and didn't make a backup. The Mahdi thread is cclosed, and the downloads no longer work. Anyone out there able to help me out? Thank you!

Hi all, new to this and was trying to unroot and relock bootloader using a Mac. For some reason when using this guide, I got into a nasty TWRP boot loop and can't get out. :(

The link was using Android Rootz...

I've downloaded the latest 5.1 factory images from Google. But when I'm using terminal to try to access the unzipped folder on my desktop it says "no file directory found".

Can someone please help? Thank you. Again, using a 2014 Macbook Pro.

I just cut the cord as far as cable goes and though I have my PS4, Wii U, PS3, Roku XD, etc. I am looking for a better streaming solution that I can still hack at, etc. I love Android and came across this video on YouTube. It inspired me to look at the NP, so I bought one last night.

I'm no stranger with unlocking bootloaders and rooting devices. So I downloaded Root-Nexus-Player-fugu.zip from CF's website. I was able to quickly unlock the bootloader and using Fastboot, get CF-Root down to the device...or was I...?

After fastboot loads root.img and reboots the player, SU does not show up on my device, even after installing the sideload app. During the boot process, the NP does throw up the "optimizing apps" window that you see after an OS or ROM update which suggests that something happened....

Interestingly enough though, I can download SuperSU to my device through the Play Store from my desktop. However, when I run SuperSU installed in this manner, it says that there is no root (or something to that effect) and suggests rebooting and trying again. When I did this a second time, the NP seemed to get stuck in an infinite boot. I watched those balls fly around on the screen for 45m because I know that sometimes the boot process can take some time for the first time after the first boot. :(

Not sure how pertinent it is since fastboot can see the NP despite this, but I've gone in each time and enabled USB debugging, disabled USB app checking, allowed (in security prefs) non-store app installs, etc.

At the point where I thought the install was hosed (the infinite boot mentioned above) I did a hardware reset from the bootloader, then downloaded the factory image (lmy47v) and reinstalled it. Once everything was back up I tried it again and still nothing...am I missing something, is anyone else having issues like this?

I'd like to try some custom ROMs and I'm looking to minimize my rebuild time. Can I just use SS and create a data backup zip and install it after I install the custom ROM?

Hello XDA experts,
Thanks in advance for your time & help with my problem. Any advice that helps me fix my phone will be highly appreciated! :)
[apologies for the longish post but I wanted to give you as much detail as possible to help me resolve the issue]

Background:
I had been using my Galaxy Note 2 [SGH-I317] since December 2012, without any modifications. The phone was not rooted, did not have any recovery tool installed & I had not done any upgrade to the OS after buying the phone as I was wary of bricking it.

A couple of days ago, my phone was connected to the charger (it was 100% charged, but I hadn't unplugged the cable yet), I just opened WhatsApp & the phone re-booted suddenly. It has done that at random times once in a while so that was not a huge surprise, but then things started going down-hill.....as I got stuck in the infamous bootloop & I am unable to get into recovery mode.

The phone gets stuck at the following point in the boot sequence:
a)"Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen --> b)Animated Samsung logo [with Blue n Purple Ring] --> c)AT&T logo screen [with sound] --> d)Samsung logo [the one where area outside the Samsung text glows blue then turns black & again glows blue]

Screen d) is where the phone gets stuck.

I tried getting into recovery mode but the phone simply restarts, so I am not able to get to the recovery mode.

I can only get into download mode.

After reading through all the threads where people reported similar sort of problems, I did the following things:
1) Wanting to recover data, I flashed "twrp-2.8.6.0-t0lteatt.img.tar" (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1981198) using Odin [v3.09]. Odin finished without any errors & the phone re-booted [<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)]
However this did not change anything, the phone was still stuck at Screen d) & unable to get into recovery mode. (Odin Message log & Screenshot attached for reference)

2) After that I flashed "CF-Auto-Root-t0lteatt-t0lteatt-samsungsghi317.tar.md5" (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1980683) using Odin. Result was similar to previous effort. (Odin Message log & Screenshot attached for reference)

3) I gave up on recovering the data & only hoped I could recover the phone atleast (the phone looks practically new without a scratch as I handle it like a baby!) Then I flashed the newer stock ROM [KIES_HOME_I317UCAMA4_I317ATTAMA4_578342_REV04_user _low_ship.tar, dated 2013-04-05] (from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-I317/). I chose the newer stock ROM even though my phone originally was on the older stock ROM as I was like, might as well get the improved OS while I am trying to fix the phone. Odin finished without any errors & the phone re-booted [<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)] However this still did not change anything, the phone was still stuck at Screen d) & unable to get into recovery mode. (Odin Message log & Screenshot attached for reference)

4) Lastly I flashed the older stock ROM [KIES_HOME_I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_215287_REV04_user _low_ship.tar, dated 2012-11-27]. Still there was no change in the situation (Odin Message log & Screenshot attached for reference).

5) Finally I tried firmware upgrade from Kies as suggested here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2585879, which completed as well (after taking an eternity) No luck even then :( (Kies initial Screenshot attached for reference)

For reference, this is what my download screen has shown from the beginning (still shows the same):
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I317
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official

Now I am at my wits end in trying to bring back my phone from the dead. I have faith in all you experts out there in helping me point in the right direction. What else can I do to revive it? Are there any options in ODIN that I can check/uncheck to help me out of this?
I do not know a lot about EFS, but is this problem related to that? Please let me know if I need to provide any additional information.

Awaiting your expert replies & solutions! :)

I am pretty overwhelmed by knowing that our low budget device has got many aftermarket ROMs. Thanks to all the developers making these awesome ROMs possible for MotoE.

I myself have tested many ROMs but I am confused now about which ROM gives best performance, which ROM gives best features, which ROM gives perfect mix of features/performance. I myself would consider the ROM which gives best performance.

Please reply to this thread answering which ROM you are using and for what purpose to solve(features, performance or both).

I've been using the Spigen Slim Armor for a few days. Can't believe how amazing it feels naked without a case!!

I know there is many article out there saying is OK to charge overnight as your phone is smart enough to prevent overcharge. But since this is a new adaptive fast charge charger, I thought it might have a different story. So guys, is it ok to charge overnight using the given adaptive fast charge charger? Thanks
