Hello,

i am working on chinese android tablet called "MID-U705B". The device came half rooted i guess. I am getting an # in the adb shell, even without running "su", right from the start of adb shell. Nevertheless i am not able to run any root apps. When i am trying to call a root shell command from my app i am getting: [java.io.IOException] : write failed: EPIPE (Broken pipe).

There is a su file inside my /system/xbin folder and i also created a symbolic link to it in /system/bin.

Does someone know how to get full root access on this devices? Whats missing?

Thanks for your help and advice!

Best regards,
Hans

Greenify "greenifies" applications that are in active use, for example Google Maps that I use for navigation and music streaming and player apps like Deezer and Poweramp. By "foreground" I mean that the application is currently in use, I don't go back to home screen. I just turn of my screen to save battery. Music playback cuts off after a minute or so and the only solution is to "degreenify" all music player apps. Google Maps will reset shortly when my screen turns off.

Is this how Greenify works?

The latest version with the donation package. [UNOFFICIAL] Xposed for Android 5.1 - API v64 / Alpha 4 / 20150514, HTC One M7. Xposed is enabled in the Greenify settings.

Anybody else finding apps that are incompatible with this phone? So far on my CN model, I have had issues with two video streaming apps:

Watch TNT - force closes when I open the app.
Xfinity to go - force closes when trying to load a video.

Anybody else try these two apps so far, and if so what were your findings?

Maybe we can also keep a running list on this thread as well to keep clutter to a minimum?

This must be so insanely obvious that I'm being a total idiot by asking. However, I have searched both this site and the rest of the Internet 30 ways to Sunday and haven't even come close to an answer. I have several favorite apps that I use. But my Nexus 7 (first gen) is running like a freaking turtle, so I'm thinking about rooting it and flashing a new ROM so that it is once again functional, at least for reading and the occasional exercise video. But if Overdrive, Nook, Taptu, Feedly, Kindle, Google Books, Pocket and Food Planner Pro don't generally run on non-stock Android, then it would really be a waste of my time. I expect there may be a certain amount of "It depends" in the answer, but is there a way to find out without cluttering up the forums?

I've been trying to find the pngs for the icons to switch from Samsung icons to aosp icons. I've searched through all the apks but I can't seem to find the icon PNG.

I have been running Android Revolution on my AT&T HTC One (M8) for several months without any issues. Late last week my phone started randomly exhibiting some strange behavior. The most problematic is the fact that certain apps cannot establish their required connections. This problem did not exist prior to either Thursday or Friday of last week (5/14). It is possible that this was caused by an update, but I have no idea which one or how to check what was updated on a specified date.

As for the problem itself, my best guess is that a specific port (like 443) or type of traffic is somehow being blocked. However, I don't know how to troubleshoot to determine what specific traffic is being blocked or what is blocking it. The issue exists over wi-fi and mobile data. Everything else connects fine. Apps like Facebook, DI Radio, Chrome, IMDB... all function normal. The apps that I have discovered won't connect are:

PayPal
Pandora
Twitter / TweetCaster
AmEx Serve
Swype + Dragon / Nuance (voice recognition)

I have been searching and haven't found anything close to a solution or guidance. If anyone has any ideas on what is causing this, or even how I can troubleshoot to find out more detail about what's happening I would really appreciate the help.

Hi all,

I have a Galaxy S 10.5 (16GB) that I picked up in September of 2014. I love the thing but it's showing a weird issue. Any time I hit 500MB storage remaining, Google Play Store will no longer update apps. It gives me an insufficient storage notification. I can go in and clear the cache and everything is great - until I get to 500MB remaining again. Then I have to find more space again.

I've had a 64GB SD card installed in the device since I purchased it. I store music there and move apps that support it to the memory card. I was hoping that having the SD card would make the (insufficient) 16GB of storage liveable. It hasn't and the 500MB has only made it more challenging.

Has anyone seen this before and/or have any ideas what might be going on here.

Thanks!

Hey guys, ran into a problem with my G2 today. Either Google Play Store will crash as soon as you try to open it, or other Gapps such as Calendar, Gallery, Contacts, etc. will crash when you try to open them. This started happening after a dirty flash of CloudyG2 to fix audio issues. I have tried clean flashing, factory reset and then clean flashing... Basically everything I could think of. The only thing I haven't done is try a new ROM.

I have tried both minimal and modular Gapps for Android 4.4.2 as well. I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

How does the buying and downloading of apps work technically?

1) Do any of the apps come with any type of copy protection, or can expensive apps simply be copied to another android device?

2) If I buy an app on the Google Play site on my PC, how does the download work? What triggers the device to start downloading? And how does it do? Does it log in to some ftp site?

Is there a recent apps switcher on the nexus player? for example, if i'm watching netflix, and hit home to go look at something, netflix doesn't stay open in memory. i have to re-load the app from start, and find what i was just watching, hit play, and hit resume.

is there any way to just easily jump back to that app?

I was wondering if stock 4.4.2 apps could be installed on lollipop (cm12)
