This is primarily for those of you who have a Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan with Verizon Wireless and would like to not have to pay for tethering while we wait for customs roms. I apologize in advance for not being able to post links. The required files are attached.
  1. If you are not already rooted, please follow GigaSPX's guide on how to root your Z3v.

  2. Please download and install wifi_tether_v3_1-beta14.apk from code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

  3. Open the installed app and verify that Disable Update-Check is selected under settings

  4. Press the big button to start tethering. Click grant when prompted for root access. The big button will turn yellow. Press it again to stop tethering. You will get a bunch of errors during this process, this is normal. This will install the required binaries and config files to /data/data/com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether/

  5. Restart your phone.

  6. Verify that tether.edify is located in /data/data/com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether/conf/ using root explorer or another file manager of your choice. If it does not exist repeat the above steps.

  7. Replace tether.edify with my modified version located in the attached tether.7z archive.

  8. You can now tether over wifi using this app.

NOTE:
  • Enable WiFi-Encryption does not work.

  • Enable Access-Control does work and can be used to prevent unauthorized access to your network.

Does anyone know of a working tether mod for the ATT S6 Edge?

For those who do not have access to a computer I achieved root today without a PC by following these steps :

Root device using kingroot (will not trip Knox)
(Tablet is now technically rooted but most people prefer SuperSU and to not have incompletely translated apps controlling root access)
Install flashify from the play store
Use flashify to install twrp (will trip Knox)
Download SuperSU zip
Remove kingroot and the included kinguser app
Reboot into recovery and install SuperSU zip

OR :
After installing twrp just download a ROM (and if needed gapps) of your choice and flash.

Used to use WiFi tether router but it's not working on the lollipop update.

Anyone know an app that works and bypasses the t-mobile tether data limit?

For those that are unable to get the Hotspot working no matter what they do.....
The Play Store has an app called Wifi Tether Router by Fabio Grasso. It works just fine and it's free if I'm not mistaken. I use it all the time for the last year or so. Best alternative. Give it a try.....
