Recently i have got Xperia z1 and it's really amzing and fast for me but there are some few question and problems i cant find solution.

1. My current android version is 4.3 i was thinking for lolipop and after searching i have found that Lolipop is a pathetic release for Z1, so i want to know that should i stay on 4.3 or downgrade to 4.2.2 or can i upgrade to kitkat ?? is it stable or worth upgrading.

2. When i turn on or off O2 logo came on my screen and some o2 apps installed. Well in my country if there is any kind of logo in mobile firmware its value decrease peoples think its a fake so is there any chance or way to remove this ? I'm familiar with rooting and have done a lot of on Nexus, Xperia P, S, Galaxy 1-2 etc etc.

So I tried installing Cloudy G2 3.0 the recommended way, with the patches and stuff. I initially did a dirty flash from stock lollipop but the ui wouldn't load to I went for a full wipe. At some point during the install, something messed up and I was sent to fastboot. That's all I could get to, so I wrote over the .img files to restore the partitions and now I have access to the factory reset menu and the hardware key settings menu. The factory reset menu just freezes at "factory reset processing" if I try to use it. When I boot normally, I get to the LG logo where it freezes. No pulsing light or anything. Plugging it in at that point allows the computer to recognize it but no adb or fastboot options. LG Flashtool recognizes that the phone is there but won't flash any .tot file. If I try a D800 tot I get wrong model and if I try a korean tot I get a cross dl error. I really need help, I screwed up!

Hi... First off I'm a Windows user and I have never mess with anything else . I was at my brother house this weekend and my nephew gave me his hp tablet . when I started it up I'm loss as to what to do . I did do a google search about it and what I can and can't do . This is how I came about to your website forum . Any ways I was hoping I could get some advise or suggestion as to whether this tablet can install Firefox browser ? When I start this tablet I see the following .

Hello guys, I have installed a CM12 nightly build into my Galaxy Note 3 [hlte] and everything is fine.
But I was wondering, is it possible to bring back some of the original apps (like the Camera or S Note) which i had with the original Samsung firmware?

1. I had updated to official lollipop (5.0.1), by SAMMOBILE's official ROM. After upgrading, my second SIM cant connect to network. So I revert back it to KK (4.4.2). Still the problem persists !!!!! . I couldn't use it as a dual sim phone :( Is PDA and CSC version is important while flashing? or we could install any PDA/CSC rom version on samsung phones? I don't know the original ROM so, I had downloaded all firmwares available at sammobile and tested. only 2 of them managed to register my SIM(first) on network. Is it a hardware issue? or by a wrong ROM ? anyway now my mobile admitted at hospital and specialized doctors have been studying his disease :p

I had to get a replacement phone via insurance for my old S4 that got a bit wet and had screen problems. I was rooted on 4.4.2 on the old phone. I haven't been on here in a while and didn't realize there was no way to root OC1. So I took the OTA upgrade to Lollipop. But this isn't a complaint about not having root, I'll wait till there is a way of doing so. But I've noticed some IMO significant differences between JB and Lollipop, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious or things have changed that much between versions.

1: Is there anyway of moving the multi-window sidebar? I hate on the left hand side of the screen and would love to move it to the right side. I've not found a way of doing that. (however I do like that more apps now are able to be in the sidebar.).

2: I want to change my Lock screen widgets. I used to have 4 on there, now it seems I can only have 2, Phone and Camera. Can I change it back to the 4 I had in JB?

3: Is there a good way of blocking Ads without having root? AdBlock Plus is supposed to be able to do this, but I'd have to add an APN, which I can't seem to do, as the Add button is greyed out (probably a result of not being rooted)

4: My phone seems to get so much hotter under Lollipop than it did under JB. Any Idea why? I've got good 4g signal so the phone isn't hunting for a signal.

It was getting on my nerves that feedly and gmail keeped randomly crashing on my device (Nexus 6). So I looked into the adb log and found that it was caused by the android WebView crashing (Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV), code -6, fault addr 0x52a2 in tid 21178 (RenderThread)). Seems to be a common bug for asus devices (http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.ph...hread&tid=5919), but I have found nothing about problems with vanilla android (I am using the stock rom).

Currently the only workaround is to uninstall all WebView updates (which is of course not the greatest solution regarding security). Does someone have any more information about this bug and how to solve it?

I wanted to share some thoughts on more efficient dalvik-cache placement.

There are two paths we can take here:
- move some or all of dalvik-cache to /cache partition,
- increase size of cache partition using other, unused parts of or flash.

I'll write all the stuff in order from the easiest to most complicated.

1A. Moving some dex files to /cache

Open your /system/build.prop and make sure that parameter dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only is set to zero - either change it or explicitly set it, if is not there. This will cause dex files for all apks from /system partition to go to /cache - for Vanir it's about 65M. Good start ;)

In theory you could move an apk from /data/app to /system/app and after reboot the dex file would move to /cache, but this creates two kinds of problems:
- after an update the app is on /data again and the dex file also,
- if you flash another rom, you'll most likely loose those apps, which isn't always desired, but this has a solution I'll give later.

1B. Moving entire dalvik-cache to /cache partition

If your dalvik-cache is smaller than /cache partition you might as well move it there entirely. There are few ways to do it, I'll show one of them.

Copy /fstab.samsungjanice somewhere (like /data/local/tmp/) and append (at the end!) the following line

Reboot into recovery and ensure that /data and /cache are mounted. Connect with adb and then run those:

rm -f /data/dalvik-cache/*

Now move the modified fstab.samsungjanice to /efs/common/overlay/fstab.samsungjanice and reboot.
If everything went fine, you've just earned up to 300M more on /data ;)

BEWARE that those two solutions are exclusive - either one, or the other. I don't know what happens if you use both - either nothing or it won't boot. You can of course switch between them - just don't enable both at the same time.

But... what if 300M is not enough? Then you can either stay with solution 1A or:

2. Enlarge /cache partition

Since preload, fota and kernel2 partitions aren't used (usually), we can extend /cache with them. This can be achieved either with repartitioning the flash or using lvm. I suggest the latter.

This way you can have over 600M of /cache, and if you throw in fota and kernel2, even around 670M.

Having done that you can use either 1A or 1B depending on what you want. If you don't intend to switch to ART, you can safely assume 600M is more than enough - use 1B. If however you want to give ART a try, I suggest trying 1A first - after switch to ART /cache usage increased from 65M to 195M and total dalvik-cache size went from 285M to 780M!!!

That's it for now - I'll extend this tut later.

Now the homework;) I gave you the ideas, now if someone could create recovery scripts that do this automatically, many more people could use them :) Any volunteers? It's not difficult - of course I'll help (as in check them and do minor corrections, not as in doing it all). If nobody does it, I'll probably do it... eventually... I'm kind of lazy ;P

I'm thinking about creating a repository of scripts/plugins for mk kernel on github - those will be a good addition.
