This guy probably saved my phone. I was thinking if flashing a custom rom, I would have ended up with black/white lines on my screen. Dead pixels because of overheating, because of no thermal control.

Someone has to do something about it.

Old LG G2 roms/recoveries need to be marked that they don't have thermal control or download links need to be removed. Since they will break your screen.

My phone was updated to the new version of android 5.0.2 and I used it normally there is no problem. Then, I charged it at that time battery level was 40% after I finished my work I used my phone, it stopped working and could not turn it on. I tried many times to press volume up and power button at the same time then reversed it but no response from the screen.

How should I do?

So I tried installing Cloudy G2 3.0 the recommended way, with the patches and stuff. I initially did a dirty flash from stock lollipop but the ui wouldn't load to I went for a full wipe. At some point during the install, something messed up and I was sent to fastboot. That's all I could get to, so I wrote over the .img files to restore the partitions and now I have access to the factory reset menu and the hardware key settings menu. The factory reset menu just freezes at "factory reset processing" if I try to use it. When I boot normally, I get to the LG logo where it freezes. No pulsing light or anything. Plugging it in at that point allows the computer to recognize it but no adb or fastboot options. LG Flashtool recognizes that the phone is there but won't flash any .tot file. If I try a D800 tot I get wrong model and if I try a korean tot I get a cross dl error. I really need help, I screwed up!

Wow, what a ride I had with this phone.
Starting with the fact that the model of the phone was SGH-I747 with AT&T branding :D I then tried to flash a custom rom based for this model, of course everything went bad, we'll not everything, but I couldn't make any calls, see IMEI nubmer and so on.

Thanks to a very helping member of SGH-I747 board, audit13, I found out that my phone is in fact T-Mobile's SHG-T999. I was lucky enough and was able to restore stock ROM of this model.

Now everything works, but since I'm located in Europe I would like to flash stock ROM without all the T-Mobile useless (since I don't have this carrier in my country) apps.

And I just wanted to make sure that I don't miss anything important.

I've rooted the phone using this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1771687 and using March 2014 - 4.3 JellyBean.

Could someone please explain difference between -StockMOD Custom ROM- and -StockMOD ROM-, I understand that -StockMOD ROM- is completely based on Stock ROM, little to no changes. But how little are these changes, will I have all the T-Mobile apps?

Steps I'm planning to make
1. Backing up efs folder by copying it with Root Browser to SD card and then on my PC.
2. Installing Clockwork MOD and Flashing ClockworkMod Recovery option
3. Creating backup of current ROM with ClockworkMod
4. Downloading StockMOD Custom ROM 4.3 RLS2.1.zip from the thread mentioned above (I'm a bit worried that file name in the thread is different - StockMOD Custom ROM T999 4.3 RLS2.1.zip)
5. Unfortunately I don't see link to T999UVUEMJC modem anywhere.
6. Copying of ROM file and Modem file to SD card (Is it ok if my SD card is only 2GB? ROM is a bit over 1GB).
7. Rebooting into recovery from ClockworkMod
8. Selecting Wipe data/factory reset
9. Selecting Wipe Cache partition
10. Going to advanced and selecting Wipe davlink cache
11. Selecting Mounts and Storage and format /system
12. Installing modem zip (If I can find it)
13. Installing StockMOD Custom ROM 4.3 RLS2.1.zip (is it ok to have spaces in file name?)

Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying a Fire TV but before I do I was wondering if someone could quickly try something for me. I'm totally blind & all my devices (phones, tablets, laptops etc) talk to me - if they didn't I wouldn't be able to use them. Most versions of Android come with a screen reader called Talkback but my research suggests that the Fire TV doesn't.
I was wondering if someone would be able to attempt to install Talkback and let me know what happens? Unfortunately I can't post the link but you should be able to find it by searching for Talkback. NB: the description on its page says that you will need to enable Talkback in settings so if it doesn't start talking once installed this may be why.
If you do manage to get it installed, I'd be interested in hearing how much speech you get when trying to use some of the stock apps so that I can work out if I'll be able to use it or not. A quick video / audio file of you doing a few things with it talking would be absolutely amazing but no worries if not.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated; if it can't be made to talk I simply won't be able to use it so I don't really want to buy it only to end up returning it shortly after. Sorry if this is a bit of a newbe type question - the only Android experience I've had was on an old Nexus 7 a couple of years ago so I have a lot to learn.

I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 2 that I recently updated through Kies. It's been out of service for over a year that is the reason I went through Kies. Before updating I was on 4.1, and rooted. I say this because I know how to get into Odin, and this is my problem. After updating from 4.1 to 4.4.2(NK2) I can no longer get into Odin. My volume up/down, power button, and home button all work when the device if fully booted. I can get into recovery, and my power button, and the volume up/down keys work in recovery. Do I have a locked bootloader? If I do how to fix? If I don't how can I get into Odin? I have done a factory wipe through the settings, and once through recovery, but it didn't fix me getting into Odin. Please help. Thanks.

Unlock GSM\CDMA HTC Desire 510 Sprint/Virgin/Boost
STEP 1: Get SPC/MSL code
Use file manager and open the SPC utility apk – read SPC. Enter DIAG mode ##3424#

Step 2: Unlocking the Bootloader


STEP 3: Flash write protection removed kernel
Donload ( link cannot be view :( coz a new member )
Now type: fastboot flash boot b.img

STEP 4: Installing TWRP
Now type: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-a11.img

STEP 5: Rooting

Now type: adb push UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip /sdcard/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip

STEP 5: SIM Unlock

Install Root Explorer from Play Store and SIM Unlock Helper apk from the attachment
Use root explorer and rename HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk and HTCOMADM_SPCS.odex to something else (like HTCOMADM_SPCS2.apk and HTCOMADM_SPCS.2odex) from /system/app Directory now copy the HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk attached in this post make sure you have set the permission rw-r-r and reboot.
Open htc on sim unlock helper on your phone it will say htc one device check fail now click the 3 menu dot and click on display sim unlock log then hit the back button it should say Device Verified, now hit start and scroll down to simlock it will freeze for few seconds and then press back button it should be successful reboot
Delete the modified HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk and rename the original HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk and HTCOMADM_SPCS.odex to original state which we renamed in previous steps to avoid vdm client stopped error.

STEP 6: Make it RUIM Only

DFS - Click on Programming tab and in the CONFIG Section a RUIM Config a Select RUIM_ONLY and click Write

STEP 7 : Enable WIFI HOTSOPOT and Bluetooth Tethering

You have to edit /system/build.prop to change these lines: (if you can edit with an editor that shows line #'s they're lines 26,27,28)

To:

Try renaming HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk Which is located at /system/app/ to HtcOMADM_SPCSOLD.apk. But doing this you may get vdm client stopped error.
