My nexus 5 died a few weeks ago. Today I got a used motherboard to replace the broken one. Phone went on but still had personal files and a password from the previous owner (which had a cracked screen so he couldn't delete his files I guess). I did a factory reset via the recovery mode. Booted the phone up, logged in with my google account and selected the app backup thingy. So I get into the homescreen but my apps are not installing and I get a message my storage is full and it can't install apps and sync etc.
What's wrong? Did the factory reset fail to delete the files from the previous owner and how can I fix this?

I didn't find a thread for the Volt, model LS740 on Virgin Mobile. Rooted by the original owner. So I'm posting it here. I'm using adb on Ubuntu.

So I'm trying to repair a broken system by reflashing the stock ROM. I suspect the previous owner(who rooted) may have removed multiple important system apps. Upon doing a factory reset it has no home launcher or keyboard. As soon as the screen turns off it loops a com.android.systemui has stopped. Every boot you need to do a factory reset to get it to work: booting once, then again will loop the systemui crash, requiring a factory reset to work.

The android recovery works, I can get to it, but it offers install update from cache, adb, or sd card. The phone will not recognize sd card while it is in recovery, and adb doesn't work in recovery, only while booted. Copying recovery image to cache fails at 71%, I suspect the phone does not have enough RAM to move 1.17 GB from A to B. The phone may also not have spare storage space. I'm working on finding an sd card so I can try copying from there.

"adb reboot bootloader" reboots the phone normally. If there's a bootloader it skips it entirely. I found threads that say uncheck fast boot in power/battery options, but I have no such check box.

Right now, I have adb, images/zips for twrp recovery and stock rom, and I can push apks for a launcher and keyboard. But I apparently can't access bootloader or install rom via recovery. I don't have an sd card to try and copy the rom to cache, which I will try as soon as I get a card.

Adb cannot run as root, I get "adbd cannot run as root on production builds. So I can't directly push the rom to /cache/backup using adb.

Any help? I tried to get it all out there so that you guys could help better. Thanks for reading all that.

Please help me factory reset my HTC desire 601 dual simy, here's what happened few months ago... I tried rooting my phone failed.. somehow I unlocked bootloader... that's all... now months later when I'm trying to factory reset my phone because I want to sell it off. But I can't reset I reach till the factory reset options using the hardware keys.. I press factory rest phone vibrates and same screen again.... not happening anything. ..attaching few snapshots... otherwise my phone is working fine.. please help mates...Cheers!!

hello there, I have a N910F and I have tried resetting it through the settings, as it goes into recovery it says 'installing system update' then just shows up the recovery without actually wiping the phone. when I do wipe the data it completes fine but when I click onto reboot system now an error comes up saying failed to mount data and something in brackets which I cant read because t reboots too quickly. the phone starts up with all my data still in tact.

I have also tried to flash the latest Lollipop version for the device but it as soon as I click start the flash fails. this is confusing me because this phone is not rooted. I even tried to flash TWRP but the stock recovery still seems to show up.

very puzzled would like to know if anyone can help me would appreciate it a lot! :good:

I did a factory reset from within the settings of the phone, it shows the erasing android and then flickers with and image of an android with triangle. Does this several times and then just stops on the android with red triangle. I can get into stock recovery, tried resetting from there but same thing happens. Also, if I just leave the phone it reboots and then tries to erase and then I get the same loop of it trying and failing.

Any ideas how to fix this? Phone is on the stock 5.0 rom and I have the pure edition.

I have an HTC One M8 on AT&T, and I have twrp installed. It is on KitKat, and twrp will not let me update to Lollipop. I am quite new to Android, and I do not know how to remove twrp, and go back to sense to install the new lollipop update. If you can help, please tell me how to do everything like I am a 6 year old child. I do not even know how to flash a rom. I have searched google as best I can, but I cannot find anything. Thanks for the help!

Well, my SM-T700 Tab S 8.4 Wi-Fi wants some Lollipop. I wanted to know, given that I am from Portugal, can I flash the other region's ODIN 5.0 ROM without having to perform a factory reset? Because I don't want to reset it.

Do I have to reset anything to install 5.0?

Hello, I've ran into some trouble with my nexus 9. After the last update my device seems to be bricked, just stuck on the white "google" logo during start up.
I'm trying to flash OEM android on my device and have been unsuccessful because my bootloader seems to be locked, and the only way I can find online is to do it through developer options which I cannot access now since my device is bricked. I've tried the fastboot command oem unlock and permission is denied. Prior to this I have not enabled developer option or usb debugging because I was ok with using stock software.

I can get into bootloader mode and access fastboot USB but I cannot flash my device due to bootloader being locked!

I've also tried Recovery -> wipe all data, and my device is still bricked afterwards!

Is there anything I can do at this point?
